Setting the Stage

ONEOK is one of the nation’s premier energy companies headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They specialize in the gathering, processing, storage and transportation of natural gas. ONEOK looked to Shockoe to help mobilize their workflow through the creation of a data management iPad application. In order to be compliant, employees were documenting work orders with pen and paper which then were manually input into their desktop application to await approval.

The Solution

What We Created

The risk of losing valuable information through their current process was too high. Shockoe visited ONEOK’s office to discuss needs, understand the work environment, and figure out ways to improve. We had a senior developer review their proof of concept and create a high level architecture plan. From that plan, Shockoe was able to begin the development process. We created the data heavy iPad application that supports multiple users, caches data offline, and syncs it back to Maximo’s API. Some of the technologies used were Appcelerator, Backbone.js, and SQLite.

Results

Shockoe delivered ONEOK’s OpsWork application which allows employees to manage work orders at various plant locations, in real time. We revised the design to be user friendly and made data handling more robust and less prone to human error. This iPad app streamlined ONEOK’s workflow, minimizing time and money spent inputting information.
