In 2014, one of the nation’s top 10 largest financial institutions had a plan to build Employee Apps to meet employee demand and desire to go mobile. By the end of 2013, the bank had successfully rolled out three apps across 1 business unit, significantly less than originally planned. At the end of 2014, the bank engaged Shockoe to assist in creating Governance, a Deployment and Security Strategy, as well as engaged us in the development of some of the major apps planned for 2015 and beyond.
Through the process, the business has recognized an opportunity to centralize mobile application management under one program management office to socialize best practices, share resources and integrate certain application functions that cross markets and user groups.
The organization’s leaders were facing the pressure to build and deploy employee-facing mobile applications to increase workforce productivity and employee engagement.
Mobile solutions provide the ideal platform for the Bank to deliver on its mission of providing innovative solutions and technology to improve workforce performance while drawing in a new generation of tech-savvy employees. Previously the organization was reluctant to deploy internal apps because of data sensitivity, this bank now looked to a comprehensive mobile solution to allow them to manage mobile apps and content on Corporate Owned Devices as well as Employee Devices, primarily iOS, but with a fast growing Android population.
The bank’s primary concern was securing and preventing any data loss from through employee apps or devices as a lot of sensitive information would be stored on these, so Shockoe was tasked with evaluating Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions
Initially, Shockoe developed one business-critical application to demonstrate the value Mobile brings to the enterprise. By the end of 2016, the bank will have successfully rolled out nearly 70 applications to its employees and business partners.
By creating a center for Mobility, the business was not only able to roll out applications quicker, they were also able to communicate Governance, Security, and Compliance more efficiently and the adherence to these has been higher.
The bank did not have the internal resources to assess the various EMM components required for support. Before selecting Air-Watch, we assessed a number of EMM providers. Several elements were assessed, including the ability to manage specific apps across various areas of the organization as well as the integration with SSO solutions already in.
